piece of prada

it occurred to me the other day that i don't own any prada, not one piece of prada. so, i decided that needs to change, and i need a piece of prada!

coral corner

i love the idea of stacking fashion and art books with a piece of coral, a vase or something pretty on the top. i have a piece of white coral that i will use to make this same little vignette on a side table or coffee table in my apartment. i found this new store in mill valley, called revelation, that sells blue coral, which is super rare. revelation sells vintage and restored items that are beautiful one of a kind pieces. 

red, white, and navy

a white coat is very chic, and also very impractical, but still very chic. i don't think i could keep a white coat white very long before spilling something on it, so i don't see myself ever having one.  what i love about this look is the navy pants with the burgundy pumps. i want to treat myself to a staple piece for my birthday in april, and i think it might have to be this to die for hermes bag or a small chanel bag.

staircase vignette

so, in my new apartment, there is a small little mudroom area and then a flight of stairs, and near the top of the stairs there is a tiny, tiny, nook. i don't think i can even fit a small side table, so i was thinking of stacking some pretty boots to put a little vase of flowers and a little bowl or jar to put my keys in when i get home.

simple elegance

i received some amazing news this week, which has been very inspiring and motivating.  it's not always the case that hard work pays off, i think sometimes we work hard and we don't always get the pay off we deserve or expect. but when your hard work does pay off the reward is that much sweeter.  the decorator showcase starts next month, and i was looking at some of the pictures from some of my favorite rooms last year, so i wanted to share them.  this room was one of my favorite rooms, done by catherine kwong design. i love the simplicity and elegance of the room and it's a bonus that it was inspired by fashion.

i love, love, love this clutch. perfect for showing off pretty lipstick, and a small wallet, or phone. 

george smith

i have been on the hunt for a couch for my bosses's new home and we have used george smith's chairs on a couple other projects. so, when i saw this sofa i thought it was exactly what my boss is looking for.  her home has a very open floor plan so she doesn't want the sofa to be too large, and she doesn't want the back of the sofa too high that it cuts off the space from the dining room to the living room.  this couch that sofia coppola has in her apartment (pictured here) has a very european, traditional, and elegant look to it.  as a bonus, all the pieces by george smith are made with love in england.  

lady in red

the first lady decided to wear jason wu to the 2013 inaugural ball, and i don't think she could have worn a better color and neckline. i love that she wore jason wu to the  inaugural ball four years ago, and although i love this dress on her, i think i would have preferred her to pick a new up and coming designer to support this year. 

killer clutch

if i had an extra $650 dollars sitting in my piggy bank, i would spend it on this clutch. 

boring

lashes

there is no such thing as too much mascara. everyone knows that i take my eyelashes very seriously.  my secret for lashes is layering two different mascaras, one that is for lengthening and one for thickening. 

inspiring spaces

i don't want to jinx myself, because if i find out if i will be moving into this amazing apartment in the next couple of weeks (crossing my fingers), but if i do get the apartment then i want to create a small workspace for myself.  a small desk, with inspiring pictures, my vogue magazines collection, books, and flowers to create an inspiring space.  the apartment has a walk in closet with a window, so i'm thinking a small desk under the window could be an option, or there's a small window off the kitchen as well. i think i like the idea of having it in the walk-in closet, so that it surrounded by my pretty clothes.

i think this has to be my favorite dress from the golden globe. neutral, feminine, and perfect for the occasion.

apartment hunting

i've been on the apartment hunt, and i found one that reminds me of a loft that carrie bradshaw would live in. there's things i love and don't love as much about the apartment, but i think this apartment may be too good to pass up. i already know what how i want to decorate each room. pretty linens, bright frames, and fresh flowers!
