i had an amazing three day weekend, i hope you did too! i ran the golden gate bridge on her 75th birthday, had a BBQ, and had the most relaxing monday laying in the sun all day at a resort in napa.  thank you S for such a fun and relaxing girls day! x's

oversized silhouette

i love this look on rachel zoe, although i love her style and everything she owns, sometimes i feel like she wears things a little too oversized.  oversized and boyfriend pieces are one of my favorite trends, but i hate when their too oversized and baggy. please, please, please, if you're rocking this trend make sure these pieces aren't making your silhouette look bigger than it really is.

neutral palette

i'm working with a client that's afraid of using color and pattern in her home. i find it so much easier to incorporate color and pattern in a room when the room has neutral paint on the walls, neutral flooring, and staple neutral furniture pieces. pillows and accessories can be changed much easier than repainting a room. i would recommend painting walls a warm white, off-white color, and then add pops of color through pillows, accessories, and one or two small furniture pieces. things like paint, tile, flooring, and things that are more permanent in a home are timeless when done in a neutral like an off-white color, or light shade of gray, although there are some exceptions to this rule. 

mix and match

i'm working on a project this week, and i'm hoping the clients are open to the idea of mix and match dining room table chairs. i would love to have three different pairs of chairs. i love the look of mixing wood and metal chairs. 

contemporary barn house

i'm working on a project this week; a contemporary barn house, and we're thinking of using black window and door frames. black window and door frames makes a statement, while making the house less traditional, and more modern.  plus, i think black frames are less predictable and makes this project edgy and modern.

beach house

i've been thinking about getting some friends together to rent a little beach house this summer.  i think it would so much fun to get away and spend all day and night at the beach. i have so many things i want to plan nad do this summer, and i would love to cross this one of the list! happy weekend! 

a side of glamour, please.

once again, monday proves to be my least favorite day of the week. however, looking through the michael kors' fall/winter 2012 line seemed to help cure my monday blues. kors' fall/winter line is 1920's silhouettes, meets glamour, meets 1970's platform heels, meets shift dress, meets maxi skirt. i want the black and silver dress, and the gold platforms. happy tuesday!

beach fossils

i was lucky enough to see the beach fossils perform last night with one of the coolest people i know. it made me want think of my upcoming summer of concerts, weddings, travels, sun, and most importantly friends.  plus, the beach fossils are from new york, which is major bonus points in my book.

from the heath tile and ceramics throughout, to the ralph lauren light fixtures, and spinneybeck leather cabinet pulls, this butler's kitchen turned modern-day galley kitchen done by designers, tinsley hutson-wiley interiors (here)and dehn bloom design (here) is by far one of my favorite rooms in the  SF decorator showcase this year. the heath tile, union jack mural, and dip-dyed cutting boards as wall art are hands down my favorite things about this room. another favorite room of mine is  the white on cream striped master bedroom by heather hilliard.

spring has sprung

the bellflower earrings by j.crew (here) are the perfect spring jewelry piece, and are currently my favorite jewelry piece at the moment. they're the perfect pop of color, with a vintage feel to them. i've been eyeing them for awhile, and they're backordered until june already, so i think i might have to order them this week.  

follow your heart

i had a low key weekend, (planning a weekend getaway for next month), which was much needed after having one of the most stressful/worst weeks at work. although i think it made me realize that when you love your job even when you're having the worst week ever, it means you must really love what you do (or you're absolutely crazy). although i still don't know "what i want to be when i grow up", i think i'm starting to figure it out. and although i worry about whether i'll be good enough or successful enough, i think what's more important is that i do something that makes me happy, and that i'm passionate about. i have so many reservations about the future, but what i do know is that whatever i end up doing, i will do with all my heart.

i've been trying to plan a short weekend getaway, which has been pretty unsuccessful with my busy work schedule, but i'm in need of some serious R&R. i've been working long days, which have thankfully paid off, so i couldn't be happier, but i've more than earned a weekend away. i'm hoping to make it a road trip to monterey and carmel.

i've been going back and forth about going back to school to get my masters. and i think i'm getting closer to making my decision. i have seen so many people around me base their decisions on other people that i want to take a chance and a leap of faith, and do it with no one else in mind, but myself. i never understand why we are so quick to base our decisions on other people, and what they think or what what their plans are, yet those same people don't base their decisions on us. and really, i'm in need of some change and new scenery.

i love everything about this look. her hair, jewels, sweater, and most of all her sunnies. everything is j.crew and the sunnies are by selima for j.crew. i definitely want to buy a new pair of sunglasses this summer. i would love a great pair in tortoise shell. i'm leaning towards getting the perfect day sunglasses by karen walker (here). i can't wait for summer days at the beach with nothing but a swimsuit, sun hat, and sunnies.
