a side of sequins

december and january are two of my favorite months due to the simple fact that that these two months make up what i like to call "sequin season".  and although there's nothing i love more than sequin pumps or a clutch, it is very easy to overload on sequins.  i would recommend one sequin piece per outfit (you don't want to to look like a disco ball).  when it comes to sequins, less is definitely more.

j.crew posted some sneak peaks of the 2013 RTW collection. it was love at first sight when i saw these earrings.  i would wear them with a simple outfit, even a sweatshirt, boyfriend jeans, and heels, and add them as a pop of sparkle to any outfit.

i know i've posted about finding a leather jacket (which i still haven't found), and now i'm adding a new coat to my list.  i want to find a coat a can layer with another.

i love all the sparkle of the holidays.  from getting dressed up and going to holiday parties, to the excitement of being with family and friends that the holidays bring each year.

i bought a blouse similar to this one last week, although i think it's a little more sheer than this, but it has a leather collar that i couldn't resist, so i had to buy it. it's too sheer for work, but i think it will be perfect tucked into a pair of jeans or a pair of shorts.

this look incorporates everything about fall, which is why it works so well. suede + sequins + fall colors = the perfect fall fit.

leather look

reason #134 why i need a leather jacket, because i can wear it with a dress. once i can narrow down my leather jacket search to one leather jacket that i love, i know i will wear it all the time.

now that the rain has stopped (at least for the weekend) i think i want to wear a pair of shorts or a skirt.  i can't decide if i think its too much to wear a pair of shorts or a skirt to date #3. i don't want it to look like i'm trying too hard or that i didn't check the weather report. haha!

i want everything in this outfit. the stripes, the black denim, red pumps, and a neutral bag. i'll be putting my own version of this outfit together as soon as i can find a striped oversized shirt, i'm thinking the saint james tee. i love navy and red together. a match made in heaven!

when the right prints are mixed together it's nothing less than perfection. i love mixing two bold prints with at least one common color shared between them. i find when mixing prints, the prints have to share at least one or two common colors, preferably a neutral like navy or black, so it doesn't look to busy. you don't want it to look like you got dressed in the dark. haha!

happy almost friday! i have a date this weekend. yes, a date. which i'm more than a little nervous for, mostly because i feel like first dates are always awkward. haha! but i will definitely make the most of it, and make sure that i have the perfect first date outfit prepared. i'm thinking black leather or denim pants, a silk blouse, these new leather ankle boots that i've been dying to wear, and of course some jewels and a killer bag.
