avocado and cilantro rice

one of my favorite foods is avocado and one of my favorite garnishes is cilantro. a family favorite of mine is making avocado and cilantro rice. here's a super simple recipe:

boil 2 cups rice, add 1/2 tea spoon sea salt. after all the water in the rice has dissolved, and rice is done take it off the heat and add in 1/2 cup finely chopped cilantro, carefully mix in cilantro, but try not to break up the rice and make it "mushy". let the rice it cool for a couple of minutes before transferring it to a bowl and letting it cool for another couple of minutes. after about 4-6 minutes of cooling, add 1 chopped avocado, add lime juice, and a tad more sea salt as needed.

i borrowed these images from a post on la dolce vita. i love the wallpaper and the black and gold accents in this home office. from the light fixture over the glass table, the prada poster, black lacquer desk, fashion books, and accessories, i think everything flows so well in this room. did i mention the fun wallpaper that i absolutely adore? although for my own taste, i think there may be too many accessories, i would have edited some back a little to keep and clean feel and organized space. i can't wait to have my very office home office space to decorate.

happy birthday CL

i'm planning yet another birthday party. the last party turned out to be a lot of work, but even more fun! this party is very different from the last party, which was a day of sailing. the party this weekend is dinner party on a rooftop in pacific heights. it was a lot of work, but i couldn't be more happy with how everything is coming together. i can't wait to celebrate with him! happy birthday charles! love you to pieces.

a metallic moment

one of my favorite fall trends definitely has to be METALLIC. i love a pop of metallic, especially a skirt or shorts.  metallic instantly vamps up any outfit. whether its as small as a metallic belt, or more bold options like a metallic skirt, shorts or blazer, everyone should have a piece of metallic in their closet. 

these boots were made for walking

another favorite fall trend is ankle boots. you can do them with a heel or without, i prefer them with a heel. there the boots you can wear with just about everything. everyone should have a neutral pair and a pair in black. 

eggs whites and fig spread

i love making breakfast sandwiches in the morning when i have an extra couple minutes in the morning before running off to work.  i plan on trying this new recipe that calls for two egg whites and caramelized onions and fig spread. whole foods has this fig spread that is to die for, it's organic adriatic fig spread, and i've been putting on my toast in the morning and it's delicious.  

double strand necklace

when i have a really rough week at work i always feel like i've earned something special to buy myself. this week i "earned" a new j.crew neckalce. i have been eyeing the double strand giraffe necklace, and so has my friend jill who has impeccable taste, so we both decided to get it as a friendship necklace. i love that it's a neutral color, and the giraffe makes it such a special piece. 

dress up

i need to add to my dress collection, i would love to get more casual dresses/everyday dresses. i love this color block dress, especially paired with the nude pumps. i would love to find some fun colorful dresses to add to my closet.

more sequins, please.

i love this blouse! i wish i could find something exactly like this, i love the sleeves, i love the sequins and beads. if you have anything like this or know who it's by please share! i love anything with sequins!

one couch, coming right up

i love this dip-dyed couch, the only other thing i like in this room is the stump side table, but everything else i hate. i would love to see that dip-dyed couch in a room with some color, either in a navy blue, cobalt blue, and blue/green color story or in an all white room. i want this couch! i hope to use it on my next project.

i've always been a huge fan of chanel, but recently i've decided that if i die tomorrow and i don't have a chanel bag then all my hard work and money in the bank will be for nothing. this way if i die tomorrow, i will have a gorgeous chanel bag on my shoulder. haha. now my only dilemma is deciding which one i want.

popova desk

the first time i saw the popova desk from de sousa hughes was at this year's san francisco decorator showcase, and i fell in love with it. if i had a home office, and i was decorating it, this is what i would want, but probably couldn't afford. haha. i love a good statement piece, whether it's a necklace, a pair of earrings, or a desk for my office!
