holly hunt

i found this light fixture by holly hunt for a client, and after getting more information on it, each light fixture has a different hand etched poem on it, no two fixtures have the same poem, so each fixture is unique.  this fixture is perfect for a powder room, or a small intimate room.  kneedler fauchere at the SFDC has it on display, and it's even better in person. this is by far one of my favorite fixture of all time. 

poncho party

this past week has felt more like fall than it has summer, i thought this outfit was so perfect for this week, so i decided to recreate it with a boyfriend sweater instead of a poncho (because i don't own a poncho, but would like to add one to my wardrobe).  i want to find a wool poncho, i think it's such stable piece for fall, and i think i would really get some wear out of it during the fall (or summer in san francisco, haha).

jewels and jars

july has been filled with birthdays, weddings, mini-vacations, and little time to relax.  i feel like i have been on the go all summer, and this is the first weekend i have to myself. which will be spent cleaning out my closet, and organizing my jewelry, which has gotten out of control. i'm stopping by my favorite thrift store and anthropologie to pick up a couple jars and bowls to store more jewelry. plus, i have to sneak in a family dinner at our favorite restaurant in larkspur, a pilates class on saturday, and run on sunday. 

i need this, instead of a mirror.

there are very few things i love more than jewelry. although i'm partial to gold, i do like mixing in a little silver with gold. i love the idea of storing jewelry in hermes gift boxes, the boxes are the perfect size to store necklaces and bracelets. maybe one day when i splurge and by myself an hermes bracelet, hopefully some day soon. this might need to be my next gift to myself!

there is nothing more romantic than a wedding. i couldn't be more excited to see two people madly in love getting married this weekend. i love going to weddings and getting wedding ideas, seeing the bride's dress, and in this case spending time with a family that i love. plus it gives me a reason to get all dolled up!

patterned palettes

i like this busy pattered rug; choosing a fun print in a neutral makes it less harsh so it doesn't takeover a room. i prefer to do prints in neutrals, and what i love even more is mixing prints in the same color palette. although my definition of a neutral includes black and navy. i love a good pattern in navy.  

coffee table books

one of my favorite things to do is shop for art books and coffee table books. not only do i love reading them, but i love the way they look on a table. stacking them adds the perfect pop of color on a table.  some of my favorite coffee table books are victoria hagan's interior portraits, black and white (and a bit in between), domino: the book of decorating, design sponge at home, and everything chanel. 

dressy dress

i've been hunting for a new dress for a wedding this weekend, but i've sadly been unsuccessful, so i'll have to recycle a dress i already own by mixing it up with new jewelry and accessories. although i wasn't able to find anything like this dress in time for the wedding, i want to find something with this gorgeous neckline. i think it's so slimming and chic, plus it needs no necklace, just a ton of bangles and bracelets.

sequins sequins sequins

one of my favorite things in life are sequins, because they instantly jazz up any outfit by adding sparkle.  i have been on the hunt for more sequin pieces to add to my wardrobe, and i love everything about this dress. the color, stripes, sleeves, and of course the sequins. i would love to find something exactly like this dress!

studded shorts

this summer i've been living in my denim shorts, so much that i want another pair, and i think i want them with studs on one pocket. i'm hoping to pick up a pair before i leave for new york this week! CANNOT WAIT TO BE IN NEW YORK! NY updates to follow this week. 

skinny sangria

skinny sangria

you’ll need:

• 1-2 bottles of crisp white wine, i prefer chardonnay
• 2 ripe local nectarines, sliced
• 1 pint raspberries
• several sprigs of mint
• stevia or any natural sweetener

simply add the sliced fruit and mint to the wine and add several squirts of stevia (or desired sweetener) until desired sweetness is reached.  let sit for at least an hour in the fridge to let the flavors infuse. in the summertime it’s also nice to freeze half of the fruit and add right before serving so they act as ice cubes in the sangria. i'll be trying this weekend again this weekend!
